Chris Jericho to host Bloodsucking Freaks with Joe Bob Briggs on Shudder

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Earlier this month, it was announced that pro wrestler Chris Jericho will be joining legendary movie host Joe Bob Briggs to co-host the season 2 premiere of The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs, which will be reaching the Shudder streaming service this Friday, April 24th at 9pm Eastern.

The movie Jericho would be hosting with Joe Bob was being kept secret, but Jericho did include some hints in the statement he sent out:

When Joe Bob Briggs asked me to come watch a movie featuring butt darts, brain sucking, backgammon for digits, a maniacal mini-Oates AND a dick dog, I said: what time and what trailer park!"

The hint that really stands out to me there is "butt darts", because how many movies other than director Joel M. Reed's 1976 cult classic BLOODSUCKING FREAKS feature someone's butt being used as a dartboard? Well, Joe Bob recently sat down for a chat with the folks at Consequence of Sound, and during their conversation he confirmed that he and Jericho will be hosting BLOODSUCKING FREAKS together.

Chris Jericho is a horror fan. I was on his podcast, and he told me that, from the time he was in high school, he was fascinated with the film BLOODSUCKING FREAKS. He had what was called a Cheap Ass Movie Club among him and his high school friends where they would try to find the worst B-movie they could find and they would bring it in each week and watch it. The all-time champion was BLOODSUCKING FREAKS, and he’s been fascinated with the movie his whole life, so I was like, “Come on and co-host BLOODSUCKING FREAKS, and so he agreed to do that. The time worked out well, too. He’s probably one of the most famous wrestlers in the world right now. He’s the guy who energized the AEW wrestling circuit that challenged the big boys. So, normally we don’t reveal the title of the movie or the guests, but he’s special. But that’s the second feature. The first movie is an all time, feel-good classic, and we have the star of that movie."

We'll have to check out The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs on Shudder this weekend to find out what the first movie in the double feature is and who the guest will be, but it's good to know that for the second movie we're going to get to watch Joe Bob and Jericho talk about BLOODSUCKING FREAKS.

Sadly, Joel M. Reed is no longer around to join in on the fun. The film's director passed away a week ago.
