The CHILD'S PLAY series is pretty generally considered to be a B-slasher franchise when compared to the sprawling opuses of Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers. To be fair, they never really hit the crazy heights of quality that the Wes Craven/John Carpenter-led properties did. However, as silly as the movies got, even at their worst, they were pretty damn fun.
That's why the possibility of a seventh Chucky film is an actually enticing one, and for the first time in a good long while, there have been some stirrings on the CHUCKY 7 front. They come in the form of a forward-looking tweet from series screenwriter Don Mancini, who helmed the previous two entries, SEED OF CHUCKY and CURSE OF CHUCKY:
SO @Jtillathekilla2 SHOULD WE SHOOT CHUCKY 7 IN CAPETOWN?

This tweet is far from a confirmation that the film is actually happening, but it seems oddly certain that we'll be getting another Chucky before too long.
Here's a response from Jennifer Tilly, who was tagged in Mancini's tweet.
@RealDonMancini Capetown is great. The crew is really professional and you can't beat the weather!

Fiona Dourif, daughter of Chucky himself and breakout star of CURSE, also got in on the conversation:
@RealDonMancini @Jtillathekilla2 YES

A CHUCKY 7 with Fiona Dourif, Jennifer Tilly, and Don Mancini at the helm again seems to good to be true, but far stranger things have happened. Especially following the astoundingly positive critical reaction to CURSE, fans should definitely hold out hope that their favorite diminuitive killer will be returning to reclaim the Evil Doll Box Office Throne so cruelly usurped by THE BOY.
