Last Updated on July 30, 2021

After a bitter breakup with Konami in 2015, Metal Gear Solid director Hideo Kojima and his Kojima Productions have unleashed an epic trailer for DEATH STRANDING, the long-awaited action game destined to land on Sony's Playstation 4 platform. Alongside the trailer's detailed look at the game's intricate gameplay mechanics, the new footage also reveals that the game is set to be released on November 8, 2019.

Starring in the game are Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Lindsay Wagner, Troy Baker, Tommie Earl Jenkins and Emily O'Brien, who've all been fitted with state-of-the-art motion capture, facial scanning and vocal performance technology when executing their roles for the game. In past interviews, Kojima has stated that the game will be set in an open world environment, where the characters will embark on a prolific mission that explores the connections between life and death. When navigating the game, players will have a myraid of tools at their disposal with which to explore the strange terrain, though it's been said that the action will rely heavily on hand-to-hand and blunt weapon combat – at least for a time.

In addition to today's trailer and release date reveal, Sony also posted a brief plot synopsis on the game's UAE page. The description is rather "bare bones," but at this rate we'll take any clues we can get, amiright?

The description reads as follows:

Experience a journey like nothing before it, from legendary game creator Hideo Kojima. Take control of working man Sam Bridges, as he braves a deadly and mysterious world where death’s tide lurks everywhere.

Featuring an all-star cast, including Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Lindsay Wagner, Léa Seydoux and Guillermo del Toro, Death Stranding is a unique and unforgettable game.

With only so many days until this year's E3 celebration, we could be learning much more about DEATH STRANDING soon enough. In the meantime, enjoy this insane trailer that clocks in at nearly nine minutes, giving us an in-depth glimpse at the game's characters, environments, action, and baffling story elements.
