To be honest, every time I see S. Epatha Merkerson I think of her tough as nails work as Lieutenant Anita Van Buren from the hit television series “Law and Order.” This is not to say that she isn’t an incredible and diverse actress, but she certainly made an impression on the long running show. Of course, in her latest feature film PEEPLES she proves just how diverse and charming she can be. In the film, she stars opposite the very funny David Alan Grier and the two make a winning combination.

When I sat down with these two actors, the conversation started with the Mohawk that I was sporting. Mr. Grier was rocking the shaved head look and the let’s just say there was a bit of hair talk going on. Then came one of my new favorite people, Ms. Merkerson who I had mentioned that this was one of the few times I had watched her in something that didn’t have a rape involved… she did correct me however and mentioned she was not on “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.” This was an especially pleasant interview and seriously made my day. PEEPLES opens this Friday at a theatre near you.
