Matthew McConaughey’s controversial KILLER JOE is premiering Saturday at SXSW and JoBlo.com has an exclusive clip from the film!

McConaughey stars as the aforementioned KILLER JOE.  The story follows 22-year-old Chris who is in hock to a drug lord, he needs money quick and stumbles on the scheme of hiring a hit man to dispatch his mother, whose $50,000 life insurance policy is supposed to go to his sister Dottie. Chris has heard of Joe Cooper, a creepy, crazy Dallas cop who moonlights as a contract killer. Although Joe usually demands cash up front, he finds himself willing to bend the rules and takes Chris’ attractive younger sister, Dottie as carnal collateral. A garish, Southwestern Gothic tale, Killer Joe is a shocking, sexy, and violent black comedy that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

William Friedkin is one of the greatest filmmakers of our time.  THE EXORCIST and THE FRENCH CONNECTION rank as two of the best American films ever made.  I have chills thinking that he may be back to that classic directing form with this thriller.

Our very own Chris Bumbray reviewed the film at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival and he found it intriguing. I am definitely looking forward to this one.

KILLER JOE also stars Emile Hirsch, Juno Temple, Gina Gershon, and Thomas Haden Church. It was rated NC-17 by the MPAA for “graphic aberrant content involving violence and sexuality, and a scene of brutality.”

Yes, please.
