Exclusive Overlord featurette shines a bloody spotlight on Mathilde Ollivier

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Most of the footage we’ve seen for the new horror-action flick OVERLORD has centered on the small unit of American soldiers who are trapped behind enemy lines and must fight a monstrous horde of Nazi zombie-creature-things. Along with them for the wild, insane and bloody ride is the badass Chloe, played by Mathilde Ollivier, who more than once takes matters into her own hands by blowing away and setting aflame some evil baddies. In this new, exclusive feature for the movie, we get to learn more about her character and up-and-comer Ollivier, who wowed director Julius Avery and producer J.J. Abrams and landed the part in this crazy period genre flick. More importantly, we get plenty of new footage that shows her wielding not one, not two, but numerous different types of weaponry. Pray she’s on your side when shit hits the fan.

While our own review will be hitting the web when the movie hits theaters on Friday, many critics have seen the movie and are raving about this freaky, fast and fun zombie thriller. Currently holding an 88% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, critics are praising the movie for operating on many levels, including as a war drama and as an all-out bloodbath. Between the continuing success of BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY and the family-friendly THE GRINCH, OVERLORD looks to be a little, red-soaked gem tucked right in the middle for anyone who wants top-notch genre fare.

Here’s the synopsis:

On the eve of D-Day, American paratroopers drop behind enemy lines to penetrate the walls of a fortified church and destroy a radio transmitter. As the soldiers approach their target, they soon begin to realize that there's more going on in the Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation. Making their way to an underground lab, the outnumbered men stumble upon a sinister experiment that forces them into a vicious battle against an army of the undead.

OVERLORD is in theaters everywhere November 9.
