I don’t think I would be the only one to admit having forgot that there was another NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM movie coming, but maybe some of you have it circled on your calendars in anticipation I don’t know. They have unveiled the first NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM 3 images from director Shawn Levy’s upcoming sequel which is official titled NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: SECRET OF THE TOMB.

Here is the synopsis:

Larry and museum exhibits including Pharaoh Ahkmenrah (Rami Malek), Teddy Roosevelt (Robin Williams), Attila the Hun (Patrick Gallagher), Sacajawea (Mizuo Peck), Roman centurion Octavius (Steve Coogan) and Jedediah (Owen Wilson) wind up at the British Museum's famed Egyptian wing to solve the deadly mystery.

Talking about the movie to USA Today, director Shawn Levy said:

"We have brought museums to life, but we have never really explored the idea of taking the magic into the world. This movie really goes beyond the museum walls. We are out in London, on a double-decker bus, in Trafalgar Square. It's a juicy idea we haven't explored."

He also made it sound like this would be the last film in the franchise for the director and star:

"These remain the most successful movies that Ben and I have ever done, ultimately, in some ways, this is about saying goodbye to a franchise which has been career defining for both of us."

Downton Abbey star Dan Stevens will play the legendary Lancelot as you can see in one of the images. Of course Ben Stiller reprises his role as night watchman Larry Daley, and Robin Williams also returns as Theodore Roosevelt. There should be a trailer soon and you can bet that we will post it, so stop emailing us…mom.

The film also stars Ben Kingsley, Rebel Wilson, Rami Malek, Steve Coogan, Owen Wilson, Patrick Gallagher, Mizuo Peck, Bill Cobbs, Dick Van Dyke, and Ricky Gervais. The film also features the final appearance of the late great Mickey Rooney.

NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: SECRET OF THE TOMB opens on December 19th 2014.
