I am quite thankful to Anton Corbijn who made countless amazing music videos. Honestly, I wouldn’t even know where to begin. He’s collaborated with everyone from Depeche Mode to Nirvana to Johnny Cash. The man has a spectacular vision. I was elated to hear that he broke out into the film world back in 2007 with CONTROL, the story of Ian Curtis and Joy Division. A great film if you’ve never seen it. THE AMERICAN starring George Clooney was his last directorial effort.

His latest A MOST WANTED MAN starring the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, Rachel McAdams, Willem Dafoe, and Daniel Brühl was most recently screened at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. The director is currently filming on LIFE with Robert Pattinson, Dane DeHaan, and Ben Kinglsey.

The story centers on, ”Dennis Stock (Pattinson), who working at the Magnum Photos Agency get an assignment to shoot rising Hollywood star James Dean (DeHaan), before the release of East of Eden. Friendship developed between them during the assignment, as the pair traveled from Los Angeles to New York to Indiana.” Kingsley plays the role of Jack Warner, studio head and driving force behind the building of—you guessed it—Warner Brothers.

In the first still from the film, we see DeHaan glaring in the backseat of a car as Dean with Pattinson as Stock in the front. DeHaan is certainly interesting casting for the role of the iconic actor.

Corbijn said this of the casting decision:

Rob has an intensity that I think Dennis would have. When I see Rob, I see an inner turmoil that is great for the role. And Dane is really interesting. He has a beautiful face, but it’s a hard face to grasp. It’s hard to see how Dane reads sometimes, and the same thing goes for James Dean.

Take a look at the photo below. Filming should be complete at the end of this month.
