Ruh oh. Although a film having to undergo reshoots is rarely as dire as we usually think, sometimes it's a sign of something having gone very wrong. THR reports that GEOSTORM, Gerard Butler's upcoming environmental disaster movie, recently underwent a series of pricey reshoots in order to salvage the film.

GEOSTORM will be the directorial debut of Dean Devlin (INDEPENDENCE DAY) and stars Gerald Butler as a "man who heads into space to prevent climate-controlling satellites from creating a man-made storm of epic proportions. At the same time, he and his estranged brother learn of a plot to assassinate the president." Production on GEOSTORM began in October of 2014, but test-screenings last December revealed that there was still work to be done. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer was then brought in to consult as Skydance weighed whether to make the needed changes in post or prepare for reshoots. Skydance chose the second option and decided to bring in Danny Cannon (JUDGE DREDD, Gotham) to direct the reshoots. Apparently close to $15 million was spent whipping GEOSTORM into shape over a two-week period earlier this month, which also included adding new characters and re-casting others.

GEOSTORM is set for a October 20, 2017.
