Girl Next trailer: New film from the writer of Society, Bride of Re-Animator

Gravitas Ventures has released the shocking thriller Girl Next on Blu-ray (buy a copy HERE) and VOD (watch it HERE), and we've gotten a hold of the film's trailer to help you decide whether or not this is something you'd like to fork over some cash to see. Check it out in the embed above! 

Directed by Larry Wade Carrell from a screenplay by Zeph E. Daniel (who earned writing credits on the Brian Yuzna cult classics Society, Bride of Re-Animator, and Silent Night, Deadly Night 4 under the name Woody Keith), Girl Next has the following synopsis: 

Lorian West is perfect. She’s young, upscale, connected, the right school, the right politics, the classic blonde, blue-eyed American beauty. Unknown to Lorian, though, she’s been targeted for abduction. She’s drugged and taken to a remote rundown ranch where international traffickers not only deliver women for sex, but change them into obedient, beautiful yet placid and willing-to-please sex dolls. They also kill the ones who resist the program. 

‘Sofia’ is the newest model from Heinrich, a scientist whose genius is using trauma-based mind-control techniques along with other hideous extremes of physical and mental torture to create the perfect doll. Heinrich thinks Lorian is actually the next breakthrough model and is excited to raise the price of delivery. 

Enter a shady sheriff who supplies Heinrich with a drug that eventually takes him into madness. The sheriff gets the call from someone up the food chain to stop the operation and shut it down. It is now a failure and the order is given to kill Lorian. But Lorian has other plans — ones that involve retaliation.

Lacey Cofran, Marcus Jean Pirae, Paula Marcenaro Solinger, and Rachel Alig star.

Daniel produced the film with Loris Curci. Michael Muscal served as associate producer and had a hand in the story.

Carrell told Fangoria this about the project: 

Some of my fondest memories are getting out of school, running down to the video store with my buddies and renting movies like Evil Dead, Re-Animator, Bride of Re-Animator and Society. We watched these movies over and over, and I would read about them in Fangoria. I love those movies. That was a truly special time where you could really get lost in some crazy spectacle. Back then, I never would have dreamed I would grow up to make my own movies, especially with guys like Zeph E. Daniel and Mike Muscal. When Zeph sent me the script for Girl Next, I felt like I had discovered a lost script from those days. It was totally wild, original and unlike anything anyone else is doing these days. So, I dived right in.”

The director also revealed that Girl Next is the first entry in a series that he and Daniel are producing through their new company Crazed House and are calling the Quantum Quartet. A companion film / prequel called The Quantum Devil is already in post-production.
