AMC’s Preacher is coming to you this Spring

Last Updated on July 21, 2021

AMC's Preacher is coming into town, and sooner than you might have expected. Last week, we got a close-up look at some new characters, but this week we have something much better: a premiere date! You'll be getting Preacher on Sunday, May 22 at 10 PM, following the midseason finale of Fear the Walking Dead. AMC plans to take over your Sunday nights from now until the end of time, apparently.

Preacher centers on

Reverend Jesse Custer, a tough Texas preacher who has lost his faith, has learned that God has left Heaven and abandoned His responsibilities. He finds himself the only person capable of tracking God down, demanding answers, and making Him answer for His dereliction of duty.

Accompanying Jesse on his journey is his former girlfriend and a friendly vampire who seems to prefer a pint in the pub to the blood of the innocent. On his tail is one of the most iconic bad guys in print – an immortal, unstoppable killing machine named the Saint of Killers – a western lone gunman archetype whose sole purpose is to hunt and kill Jesse.

The series stars Dominic Cooper as the title character, Custer, Joseph Gilgun as Cassidy, "an Irish vagabond who helps Custer," and Ruth Negga as "the preacher’s ex-girlfriend, Tulip." They are joined by Ian Colletti, Lucy Griffiths, W. Earl Brown, Elizabeth Perkins, Tom Brooke, Jamie Anne Allman, Jackie Earle Haley, and Derek Wilson. Sam Catlin is the showrunner.
