The new controversial film GIRLS AGAINST BOYS opened the SXSW Midnighters section at the festival last Friday. The film has now already sold to Anchor Bay with the North American rights.

The film was the first sold at SXSW, and it seems like the perfect type of film for Anchor Bay. In fact Kevin Kasha, Executive Vice President, Acquisitions and Co-Productions for Anchor Bay Films thinks so too stating: “The film is a perfect addition to our 2012 line-up. Anchor Bay has just the audience base for it!”

The films writer/director Austin Chick also made a statement on behalf of himself and producers Clay Floren and Aimee Shieh: “We are so excited to be the first film to sell at SXSW and very pleased that Anchor Bay will bring GIRLS AGAINST BOYS to theaters this year.”

Sounds like an interesting film, Deadline offered this synopsis: The female revenge killing spree thriller, written and directed by Austin Chick (XX/XY), stars Danielle and Nicole LaLiberte. Panabaker plays Shae, a 21-year old student who, after a brutal sexual assault, teams up with fellow nightclub bartender – LaLiberte’s “Lu” – on a weekend of one beautifully staged execution after another.

We’ll be keeping our eyes peels for any and all information on this number!

Check out an 8-minute clip for the film below.
