"Bates Motel" offers you a room in this new promo poster

A&E is currently at work on "Bates Motel," which will explore the early days of Norman Bates and his beloved mom, who we recently learned will be played by Vera Farmiga (and I still think that is great casting). While we've yet to learn the full cast or story details, there's a new promo poster (courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter) available to keep our interest stoked in the prequel series. Take a look at it below and let us know what you think.

"We are incredibly excited to start production on Bates Motel. We think our take on the Bates family will both be surprising and subvert expectations. We can't wait for people to check in," showrunner Carlton Cuse told The Hollywood Reporter. We'll see if those words ring true when the show debuts in 2013.

“Bates Motel” will give viewers an intimate understanding of how Norman Bates’ psyche developed from his childhood through his teen years. Fans will have access to the dark, twisted backstory and learn first hand how his mother, Norma, and her lover damaged Norman, helping forge the most well-known serial killing motel owner in history.

I'm certainly not expecting a ground-breaker from this show, but I will admit having a tentative curiosity. Since television has been so strong lately in the original programming department, isn't there a chance "Bates Motel" will be a pleasant surprise?

Mrs. Bates, lookin' hot!
