Chiller Channel will shut down January 1st

This is sad news. Turns out NBC has decided to shut down the Chiller Channel on January 1st.

While there isn't an official reason why this decision was made as of yet, many believe it had to do with Cox, Verizon, Charter, and Dish dropping the channel recently.

This makes a ton of sense considering when Cox dropped the horror channel more than 40 million homes lost access to its content. Let alone the other services' added drops of an addition 40 million homes.

Ouch.

While mostly known for acquiring horror movies and TV shows, the channel did recently try their hand at original, scripted programming with the 8-episode series SLASHER. But that didn't go so well.

SLASHER Season One synopsis:

Thirty years ago, in the sleepy community of Waterbury, a killer known as "The Executioner" murdered Sarah Bennett's parents. Now Sarah (Katie McGrath) and her husband Dylan (Brandon Jay McLaren) have returned to town, only to find herself the centerpiece in a series of horrifying murders centered around the seven deadly sins. It seems "The Executioner" is back. But if Tom Winston – the original Executioner – is behind bars, who is the new person behind the mask? As the murders escalate, long-buried secrets are revealed, making everyone around Sarah a suspect…or a victim.

SLASHER starred Katie McGrath, Brandon Jay McLaren, Steve Byers, and Dean McDermott.
