Chris Pratt alien invasion film The Tomorrow War gets 2020 release

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Just yesterday we shared the news that the alien invasion film GHOST DRAFT is now going by the title THE TOMORROW WAR. (I think I preferred the title GHOST DRAFT.) Less than 24 hours later, we have another update to share: Paramount and Skydance Media have scheduled the movie's theatrical release for December 25, 2020.

Maybe they should have called it THE CHRISTMAS WAR.

THE TOMORROW WAR is being directed by Chris McKay from a screenplay by Zach Dean and Bill Dubuque. Chris Pratt stars as

a man who is drafted to fight in a future war where the fate of humanity relies on his ability to confront his past.

Well, that's a dull synopsis. It leaves out the most intriguing thing about this project, which is that it deals with humanity fighting and losing

a war against aliens. To turn the tide, scientists draft soldiers from the past to fight the war.

Never mind the lead character confronting his past, I want to know what sort of past soldiers are going to be drafted into this "tomorrow war."

Pratt is joined in the cast by Yvonne Strahovski, Betty Gilpin, Sam Richardson, Mary Lynn Rajskub, and J.K. Simmons. Simmons is playing Pratt's father.

THE TOMORROW WAR is being produced by David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, David S. Goyer, Adam Kolbrenner, and Jules Daly. Pratt serves as an executive producer.
