Doctor Strange 2: Bruce Campbell pranks fans with Ash crossover “leak”

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

As soon as Sam Raimi signed on to direct the Doctor Strange (watch it HERE) sequel Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, most fans immediately jumped to the conclusion that his frequent collaborator Bruce Campbell is going to be in the movie. A while back, Campbell strongly hinted that he will be appearing in the Multiverse of Madness, revealing that he was in London – where the movie happens to be filming. Yesterday, Campbell took to his social media accounts to spill the beans on his Multiverse role, posting a page from the script where Doctor Strange crosses paths with Ash Williams, Campbell's character from the Evil Dead franchise Raimi created.

Of course, this script page leak was just an April Fools joke. Although Ash has met and battled Marvel Comics heroes and villains in the pages of the crossover comic book series Marvel Zombies vs. the Army of Darkness, we're not likely to see anything like that happen in live-action… but it sure is a cool idea to imagine. The fake script page, embedded below, has Doctor Strange dropping by the cabin from The Evil Dead while searching for the Darkhold, which is basically the Marvel universe's version of the Necronomicon.

Campbell is probably in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Definitely in the cast are Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, returning Doctor Strange cast members Benedict Wong as Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Mordo, and Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, Cumberbatch's Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame co-star Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch, and new addition Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez, a.k.a. Miss America.

The screenplay was written by Jade Bartlett and Michael Waldron. Danny Elfman is composing the score.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is scheduled to reach theatres on March 25, 2022.
