First Look: Stephen King’s Pet Sematary remake!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

While it's hard to say for sure which film I'm most looking forward to in the future, it's a neck-and-neck tie between the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King's IT: CHAPTER TWO and Stephen King's PET SEMATARY. Again, my enthusiasm for both of these films is too close to call so let's just go ahead and say PET SEMATARY for this moment in time.

Because guess what EW just debuted? Yes, it's your first look at STARRY EYES directors Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch's remake of PET SEMATARY! The new first-look images feature Jason Clarke as Louis Creed, John Lithgow as Jud Crandall, Amy Amy Seimetz as Rachel Creed and even Church the undead zombie cat is thrown in there for good measure. Guess they're keeping Zelda a visual secret for now…

The new film carries this synopsis:

Based on the seminal horror novel by Stephen King, Pet Sematary follows Dr. Louis Creed (Clarke), who, after relocating with his wife Rachel (Seimetz) and their two young children from Boston to rural Maine, discovers a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near the family’s new home. When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to his unusual neighbor, Jud Crandall (Lithgow), setting off a perilous chain reaction that unleashes an unfathomable evil with horrific consequences.
