As if the thought of corporate dominance wasn’t depressing enough…
Roadside Attractions has just locked North American distro-rights to a sci-fi thriller called BRANDED, starring Ed Stoppard, Max Von Sydow and Leelee Sobieski (below). The film is written, produced and directed by Jamie Bradshaw and Alexander Doulerain.
According to Deadline, the film’s described as a dark and mind-bending journey into a surreal, dystopian society where corporate brands have unleashed a monstrous global conspiracy to get inside our minds and keep the population disillusioned, dependent and passive. One man’s (Ed Stoppard) passion to unlock the truth behind the conspiracy will lead to an epic battle with the hidden forces that really control our world.
Sounds pretty damn heavy. Thankfully Jeffrey Tambor is in the cast, likely to bring a little levity to the scene. Still, mind-control movies are always interesting, and usually scary to boot. Expect the same with BRANDED, would be my inkling.
BRANDED, originally titled THE MAD COW, will hit theaters this September possibly concurrent with a VOD release.
