Starz gives Neil Gaiman's American Gods a release date

If you are like me, then you you are currently counting down the days until the eight-episode first season of Neil Gaiman’s AMERICAN GODS premieres. Also if you are like me, you have been endlessly frustrated because we had no idea when exactly that would be!

I mean we heard word that the series would it's World Premiere at SXSW in March, but where was the news about when all of us guys and gals who DON'T live or visit Texas could check out the series? Well, boom. It's here now.

AMERICAN GODS will premiere on Starz Sunday, April 30th at 9PM.

You can also check out the series' synopsis via the press release:

“American Gods” posits a different kind of war brewing—one between Old Gods and New.  The traditional Old Gods, with mythological roots from around the world, fear irrelevance as their believers die off or are seduced by the money, technology, and celebrity offered by the New Gods. Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle) is an ex-con who, left adrift by the recent death of his wife, becomes bodyguard and traveling partner to conman Mr. Wednesday (Ian McShane). But in truth, Mr. Wednesday is a powerful old deity, on a cross-country mission to build an army and reclaim his lost glory.

AMERICAN GODS has, understandably, an incredibly impressive casting line-up. You ready for it? Here it goes: Ricky Whittle, Ian McShane, Emily Browning, Pablo Schreiber, Crispin Glover, Orlando Jones, Gillian Anderson, Kristin Chenoweth, Jonathan Tucker, Cloris Leachman, Peter Stormare, and Corbin Bernsen. Just to name a few.

AMERICAN GODS is written by Bryan Fuller (HANNIBAL) and Michael Green (ALIEN: COVENANT) who also act as the series showrunners. David Slade (30 DAYS OF NIGHT) is directing the pilot and additional episodes.

Emily Browning can SUCKER PUNCH me anytime. Get it?
Extra Tidbit: AMERICAN GODS was written by Neil Gaiman in 2001.
