AMC’s “The Walking Dead” spinoff/companion series is moving forward in earnest now, with an official announcement released last month and character details spilling in soon after. Now the show is really ready to take off, hiring a director in the form of Adam Davidson.
Davidson is a television vet, having helmed episodes of “Lost,” “True Blood,” “Community,” “Hell on Wheels,” and many more. (Interestingly, he hasn’t directed an episode of “The Walking Dead” yet.) His most distinguished credit may be his first: his 1989 short film THE LUNCH DATE” won the Oscar for Best Live-Action Short.
The still-untitled companion series pilot was written by “The Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman and “Sons of Anarchy” executive producer Dave Erickson. No word on when production is supposed to start, but with Davidson’s hiring you can bet we’ll start hearing some casting news fairly soon.
