Bad ass character actor William Hurt has joined the cast of the upcoming Ridley Scott directed re-envisioning of the Robin Hood legend. Russell Crowe will, of course, be playing the infamous archer who robbed from the rich and gave to the poor with Cate Blanchett playing Robin’s main squeeze Maid Marian. In it, Hurt will be playing the Earl of Pembroke, a real life historical figure who was a servant to the Plantagenet kings and one of the sickest jousters ever. Scott Grimes, Kevin Durand and Alan Doyle are also on board as Robin’s Merry Men. The film is currently in production in the UK from a script by MYSTIC RIVER scribe Brian Helgeland. Hurt can next be seen in the period piece THE COUNTESS and on the small screen alongside Glenn Close in the legal drama “Damages”.
