Let Me In gets cast

Let’s just agree now that LET THE RIGHT ONE IN doesn’t have to be remade. It’s a pretty damn perfect film and doesn’t really need an American version. But that said, the American remake, titled LET ME IN, is coming whether we like it or not. And I don’t know about you, but I’d like it to actually be good. So far the casting is a big step in the right direction.

We’ve heard for a while about the casting of Kodi Smit-McPhee (THE ROAD) and Chloe Moretz (KICK-ASS) for a while but today it’s official along with the news that Oscar-nominee Richard Jenkins will be starring as Hakan (though his name could be changing for the American version). Smit-McPhee and Moretz will star as Owen and Abby, the American versions of Oskar and Eli.

Now call me crazy but I’m actually kinda looking forward to this film. I’m not expecting it to eclipse the original by any stretch of the imagination, but if it’s any kind of fun on its own right I’ll be OK with it. Jenkins as Hakan is a pretty good step in the right direction.
