More Twilight and Hunger Games movies on the way, apparently

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Yes, you read that headline right. Lionsgate is threatening more TWILIGHT and HUNGER GAMES sequels, possibly in the near future. Here's what Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer himself had to say about the matter:

There are a lot more stories to be told, and we’re ready to tell them when our creators are ready to tell those stories…I’ve seen enough research to really believe that it’s really something that would be good for everybody.

Oof. However, before everyone screams doom and gloom, let's put a few things in perspective. First, there are no current plans to make these films, just the fact that the possibility is out there – which admittedly isn't great – but there are still no films actually scheduled. Secondly, the studio won't move forward without the consent of the authors – Stephanie Meyers and Suzanne Collins, respectively – and there's a possibility they won't sign on. And, finally, and most importantly, is this really that big of a deal? While TWILIGHT was pretty awful, there was also some cool backstories to side characters that could be expanded upon (as long as they stay away from the boring Cullins), so you could do some interesting things to the story if you stray from the source material. Furthermore, HUNGER GAMES was actually a great YA series of books and movies, and while the final chapters in both left a bit to be desired, there is still a pretty fascinating world to explore there. I don't think sequels, prequels, or even reboots of these franchises is necessary, but I'm also not going to get too worked up about it either.

Any fans of either TWILIGHT or HUNGER GAMES excited about this? Either way, sound off below!
