Adam McKay wants Simon Pegg as Wee Hughie in his adaptation of The Boys

Samuel L. Jackson’s not the only actor that can play a comic book character modeled after himself! That is of course, if Adam McKay could have his way…

CHUD’s Devin Faraci, while speaking to McKay about his upcoming (and hilarious) comedy THE OTHER GUYS, asked the funnyman director about THE BOYS, McKay’s possible next film which he was said to be in negotiations for last month.

I asked McKay if he had talked to [Simon] Pegg about doing the film. He told me: ‘I haven’t officially signed on yet, so I haven’t had any conversations with anyone, but he’s got to do it. It has to be.’

‘So if you sign on it has to be with him?’ I asked.

‘For sure,’ McKay said.

That’s “Wee Hughie” in the picture above, a character from Garth Ennis’s comic book, which was specifically modeled after the awesome Simon Pegg by Ennis and artist Darick Robertson. The Boys, first released in 2006, takes place in a world where superheroes exist but must be kept in check due to their dangerous and reckless nature. Keeping them in check is a covert ops group created by the CIA. “Wee Hughie” is a member of that group.

Really hoping this one pans out. Perhaps a Comic Con announcement?
