Alex Vincent & Christine Elise McCarthy returning for Child’s Play TV series

The Chucky TV series continues to expand its cast and this time they're going back to fan favorites from the first two Child's Play films to go up against everyone's favorite killer doll.

According To "Entertainment Weekly", Alex Vincent, who starred as young Andy Barclay in the first two Child's Play films, and Christine Elise McCarthy, who starred as Kyle in Child's Play 2, have now joined the cast. They join Brad Dourif, who is once again providing the voice of Chucky, Jennifer Tilly, Devon Sawa, Zackary Arthur, Teo Briones, Bjorgvin Arnarson, and Alyvia Alyn Lind on the upcoming USA Network/Syfy series.

Vincent made his big-screen debut at the age of 7 in 1988's Child Play and has appeared in four entries of the franchise, the last of which was Cult of Chucky. McCarthy's run with the franchise isn't as extensive but her role in the second film is well-liked by fans and she actually made an uncredited appearance in Cult of Chucky that teased a potential return for more if that was in the cards. The addition of both of these characters will add some authenticity for the fans since it seems like the creative minds behind the show want a solid mix of the old and the new.

Chucky will pick up after a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a yard sale. The idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of murders begin to expose the town's secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies, and allies, from Chucky's past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the doll's untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who became a notorious monster. 

Chucky creator Don Mancini has hinted recently that the show will go back to the straightforward frights of the original. Mancini stated "With this TV show, our mission has been to preserve the straightforward scariness of the original film or the first couple of films. But at the same time, continue on with this ever-expanding tapestry of consistent story that we've spun over the course of seven movies and 30-some years. I think fans are really gonna love to see the new characters that we introduce into this realm and just to see how they came off of our classic characters. Not just Chucky, but some of the others that you may be hoping to see. There's a good chance they may turn up."
