Could Zooey Deschanel show up in Marc Webb’s Spider-Man?

Will another adorable and beautiful woman join the SPIDER-MAN reboot?

You may know her, her name is Zooey Deschanel.

No, they aren’t magically bringing Mary Jane in for Deschanel. Actually she might be J. Jonah Jameson’s secretary, Betty Brant. An insider said this about the role, “Betty was a minor character in the previous Spidey movies but Marc has big plans for her. He wants a strong performer to carry the role and Zooey fits the bill perfectly. The role is hers if she wants it.”

But would Deschanel want to be a part of this film? She did work with Webb for 500 DAYS OF SUMMER.

Early on it was said that Peter Parker would be involved in some sort of love triangle. Everyone assumed that it would be between Gwen Stacy and MJ. Accompanying the news that Mary Jane is no longer an option, it was also mentioned that Peter would only have one love interest. So for right now I’m going to say, no triangle. However, Parker and Brant did date for a bit. Brant was Peter’s first real girlfriend. She always had an eye for Peter in Raimi’s films, but nothing was ever pursued. I wouldn’t start now.

I think Deschanel would be a lovely addition. Shooting on the film starts next month so she has a short time to decide. On that note, cast Jameson already!
