Fan trailer for The Matrix 4 sees the return of Keanu Reeves’ Neo

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

When the credits rolled on THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS in November 2003, I figured that was it for our illustrious heroes Neo and Trinity. To be honest I was hoping that was the case as both RELOADED and REVOLUTIONS were all spectacle and no substance, crumbling under the weight of their own ambition. However, there's no denying the massive appeal of Keanu Reeves' Neo who I consider to be one of the most iconic movie characters of all-time. Imagine my surprise when it was revealed last year that a fourth MATRIX film was on the way courtesy of Lana Wachowski and starring Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss. Dare I hope it will be good?

Principal Photography on the fourth untitled MATRIX film just began in San Francisco and we are months away from even a teaser trailer. However, that hasn't stopped certain fans from imagining what a fourth MATRIX movie might look like. This latest video comes courtesy of YouTube guru stryder HD. The erstwhile editor and movie mashup artist pulled out all the stops on this one. So prepare to take the red pill again and have a gander:

I have to say even though it's fanmade something like this gets me supremely pumped for the actual film. Obviously, stryder HD has incorporated numerous films in this faux trailer including past MATRIX movies, the JOHN WICK franchise, AQUAMAN, and CONSTANTINE. Watching Yahya Abdul-Mateen II morph into Agent Smith was pretty dope I must say and including Laurence Fishburne was a nice touch. (I sincerely hope the latter comes back for the sequel but it doesn't look like it's in the cards.) Additionally, I have to say that I love the title. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the actual title for the fourth MATRIX movie ends up being THE MATRIX REBORN.

So what do you guys think of this video? Do you like the aesthetic? What did you think of the title? Are you looking forward to a fourth helping of THE MATRIX? Let us know in the comments below.

THE MATRIX 4, does its Superman thing and lands in theaters May 21, 2021.
