Frank Oz says he would return if the Yoda movie becomes a reality

Frank Oz has become known for his feature films like LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS and DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS, but he will forever be associated with his puppeteering career. Oz originated the classic Muppets Miss Piggy and Fozzie Bear and STAR WARS icon Yoda.

With rumors swirling that Yoda will be getting a post STAR WARS: EPISODE VII spin-off movie, Oz has been asked if he will be involved in any way. Oz made headlines when he refused to perform in THE MUPPETS because he did not like the screenplay. But, on the topic of returning to STAR WARS, Oz was more positive saying “he’s in my heart, I know Yoda very deeply.” What Oz doesn't expect to see return would be the puppet version of the Jedi master..

“I think it depends on the story, but I think at this point you can’t go back to the puppet,” he said. “The reason George [Lucas] did the CGI, which I supported, was that he wanted to tell a story that would have been hampered by the physical limitations of the puppet.”

I had no problem with the CGI Yoda from the second and third prequels while the PHANTOM MENACE puppet looked like hot garbage. Whether Oz returns as the performer or an advisor on the project, it would be nice bringing back those involved from day one on the STAR WARS films. I am even okay with having George Lucas involved as long as it is not as screenwriter or director.

My only request is that they don't make Yoda breakdance ever again.
