Graphic novel adaptation The Last Days of American Crime finally steals a director?

We haven’t heard about any movement on THE LAST DAYS OF AMERICAN CRIME for a few years now, but that looks to be finally changing as “hot commercials and video director Anthony Mandler is in talks to make his feature directing debut” with the project.  There’s no word as to whether Sam Worthington is still attached to star; the exclusive report by Deadline also states that Noomi Rapace has also been attached to the project, though that’s news to me.

Here’s the official music video for “California King Bed” by Rihanna:

The script by Karl Gajdusek (TRESPASS) “takes place in the future, as America responds to a second major terrorism attack by developing technology that eliminates the impulse to commit crimes of any kind. The protagonist leads a heist team that plans to pull off a final job five days before the signal rubs out the criminal instinct.”  Mandler is also currently attached to the well-regarded not-about-Dracula script VLAD by Charlie Hunnam, so he now has an interesting choice before him as to which genre project he picks to be his debut.
