Joe Carnahan throws more actors to the wolves in The Grey

Not everyone will love it when this plan comes together.

Director Joe Carnahan is reuniting with his A-TEAM star Liam Neeson for the survival tale THE GREY. The indie features the former Hannibal as the leader of an oil pipeline team whose plane crashes in the Alaskan wilderness, where the men face a tenacious pack of savage territorial wolves.

Given Neeson’s current star power, his co-stars should be trembling with visions of becoming canine meals — THE GREY will also feature Dermot Mulroney,  Dallas Roberts (3:10 TO YUMA), James Badge Dale (“The Pacific”, THE DEPARTED), Frank Grillo (EDGE OF DARKNESS, “Prison Break”), Nonso Anozie (ROCKnROLLA) and Joe Anderson (THE CRAZIES).

Carnahan previously described it as an existentialist man-versus-nature drama, and it sounds like he’s happy to put his cast through their paces in the chilly wilds of Vancouver. “It gets to be 30 below, and when we went out the other day, I took off my hat to see how long I could last, and my skin was burning with frostbite in a little over a minute,” Carnahan tells Deadline. “In a way, it’s great, because it beats the shit out of the cast and that suits the storyline.”
