More pretty people join the cast of New Year’s Eve

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Halle Berry, Zac Efron and Sarah Jessica Parker have signed on to bring their collective good looks and fashion sense to the already attractive cast of NEW YEAR’S EVE, the spinoff to VALENTINE’S DAY that Warner Bros. is mobilizing with director Garry Marshall. The trio join the already cast Michelle Pfeiffer, Jessica Biel, Sofia Vergara, Ashton Kutcher, Robert De Niro and Lea Michelle in the film about a bunch of attractive people who have problems successful attractive people have (“I’m a beautiful workaholic who’s lonely and unlucky in love, WAAHHH!!”).

Contrary to earlier reports, the cast won’t be filming this December in Times Square as the start of production has been pushed back to February (the second-unit team will be on hand in New York City to get some crowd shots). And contrary to common sense, Ashton Kutcher and Jessica Biel won’t be playing the characters they played in VALENTINE’S DAY despite this film being a spinoff of that film. This makes almost no sense to me. That would be like Michael Richards starring in a “Seinfeld” spinoff but he’s not playing Kramer…

In the film, Parker would play the mom to Abigail Breslin, Berry will play a caterer who runs into an old love and Efron a bike messenger working for Pfeiffer (with him and Joseph Gordon Levitt, bike messengers are getting an upgrade in movies lately).
