Out of the movies left to be released this summer, ELYSIUM is definitely near the top of my "must see" list. At least top three. There is a lot of buzz for Neill Blomkamp's follow up to DISCTRICT 9, and hopefully it will perform as well as the director's first film in theaters. This summers been kind of rough on original sci-fi films, but I think there's a lot of people that are really excited to see ELYSIUM.
A new featurette for the film has been released called "Tech of Elysium," and it is focuses on creating the props needed for the the film, primarily Matt Damon's futuristic exoskeleton. Blomkamp, Damon and Joe Dunckley from WETA each talk a little about the suit, from how it was necessary to make it light weight, to how they were inspired by actual technology the military is trying to develop. There's some new footage from ELYSIUM in the featurette as well so I highly recommend checking it out. ELYSIUM with Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, Alice Braga and William Fichtner is in theaters August 9th, 2013.
