Poster round-up: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Red 2, and Despicable Me 2

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

We've got some new posters on the wall today, all of them for franchise sequels, each for a different demographic. The first one up is for what is going to be a serious cash cow this year: THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE. The poster has a renaissance fell to it, featuring star Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen standing atop a mountain with her signature weapon and the mockingjay symbol appearing in the clouds behind her. It's clever, creative, nostalgic, and cool. It's so much better than the standard fare posters that populate these films and a welcome sight. Unfortunately, it was debuted on Instagram (where all the kids are hangin' these days) and is low-res. We'll update as a bigger file is available (now updated), but until then, check it out below.

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE, directed by Francis Lawrence and starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Elizabeth Banks, Alan Ritchson, Jena Malone, Sam Clafin, and Stanley Tucci starts the game on November 22, 2013.

Next up is the final poster for RED 2, the follow up to the 2010 comic adaptation starring Bruce Willis as a retired CIA operative who gets sucked back into the action. The sequel finds Frank Moses (Willis) reunitiing with his unlikely team of elite operatives for a global quest to track down a missing portable nuclear device. The final poster serves as a wrap-up of all the character one-sheets and promos before, as is the standard procedure.

RED 2, starring Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Anthony Hopkins, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Byung-hun Lee starts the action on July 19, 2013.

Lastly, we have a new poster for the Steve Carell animated sequel, DESPICABLE ME 2. Surrounded by the yellow, pill-shaped army of minions, Carrell's Gru looks ready to take on the world, even if he fails miserably at it each and every time. When the first DESPICABLE ME came out I kind of scoffed at it, but I've since grown fond of those little minions and made peace with this franchise. It's much better than its reputation and I think the sequel will be a lot of fun, if even just to see those little yellow bastards act a fool for 90 minutes.

DESPICABLE ME 2, starring Steve Carell, Kristin Wiig, Ken Jeong, Benjamin Bratt, and Steve Coogan gets evil on July 3, 2013.
