That animated Spider-Man flick hits a snag, delayed until December 2018

If you were really eager to catch that animated Spider-Man flick Phil Lord and Chris Miller are cooking up for Sony, you're going to have to wait a little longer to see it.

Word is making the round that the film is being delayed a few months, pushed back on the calendar from its initial July 20, 2018 release date to its new spot on December 21, 2018, the perfect time to be the family option in theaters for the holidays.

There still seems to be a bit of uncertainty as to what type of priority this animated take on Spidey is over at Sony, given that the live-action Tom Holland version is going to be a big deal following the release of CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR next year. As a result, Sony can take their time with this idea and not rush it out, and, for Lord and Miller – masters of exceeding expectations – the more cover they get from the other Spider-Man efforts to go and do their thing, the better shot they have of fostering along something that may really stand out.
