The Apocalypse begins in the latest red-band trailer for Hellboy

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

The Apocalypse is almost here, and so is Hellboy (David Harbour). Summit Entertainment have released the latest action-packed red-band trailer for the upcoming film, which finds Mike Mignola's creation caught between the worlds of the supernatural and human as he battles an ancient sorceress bent on revenge. Also starring Ian McShane, Milla Jovovich, Sasha Lane, and Daniel Dae Kim, HELLBOY has been touted as a "darker, more horror version of Hellboy," something which the film's now official R-rating, for "strong bloody violence and gore throughout, and language," certainly hints at. Although it sadly brings any hope of a third installment to Guillermo del Toro's HELLBOY franchise to a halt, it will be fun to see Big Red back on the big-screen, albeit in a slightly different form.

In keeping with that R-rating, David Harbour has said that HELLBOY will find the title character being much more brutal than we've previously seen. "There’s really a sense that you’re actually killing things, even if they are giants or monsters. You’re chopping their heads off, you’re bathing in their blood and you’re feeling the complex feelings of actually cutting the heart out of another thing," Harbour said. "We’re taking the time to deal with the fact that Hellboy is a killer. He’s a weapon." What do you folks think? How is this R-rated HELLBOY adventure looking?

HELLBOY will burst into theaters on April 12, 2019.
