George Clooney is back with a new film after over four years with Netflix's THE MIDNIGHT SKY. Hard to believe the last film Clooney was in was 2016's MONEY MONSTER but not only is he starring in THE MIDNIGHT SKY but he's also back behind the camera on the project as well. Netflix has released the first trailer and the film is set to premiere just in time for the holidays.

Per the synopsis from Netflix "This post-apocalyptic tale follows Augustine (George Clooney), a lonely scientist in the Arctic, as he races to stop Sully (Felicity Jones) and her fellow astronauts from returning home to a mysterious global catastrophe." The film also stars David Oyelowo, Kyle Chandler, Demián Bichir, and Tiffany Boone.

THE MIDNIGHT SKY is based on the novel "Good Morning, Midnight" by Lily Brooks-Dalton while the film adaptation features a screenplay by Mark L. Smith. Clooney, who is helming the project, has had quite an impressive run as a director with films such as CONFESSIONS OF A DANGEROUS MIND, GOOD NIGHT, and GOOD LUCK, THE IDES OF MARCH and THE MONUMENTS MEN. Clooney was last behind the camera on 2017's SUBURBICON.
