Murder never tasted so good in the new poster for William Friedkin’s Killer Joe

Filmmaker William Friedkin has directed some absolute classics as well as some absolute garbage. In recent times, it’s mostly been garbage, though 2006’s BUG was a bright spot that gave fans of the director hope that he still had some greatness left in him. His latest is KILLER JOE, a film that’s been called a “dark comedy” in past reports though I never would’ve guessed it from reading the film’s synopsis.

Coming Soon has revealed the first poster for the film, depicting our two leads Mathew McConaughey and Emile Hirsch looking dangerous and petrified respectively. Check it out below!

KILLER JOE will screen at both the Venice and Toronto Film Festivals this month, though a proper domestic release date has not yet been set.

Synopsis: When 22-year-old drug dealer Chris (Hirsch) has his stash stolen by his mother, he has to come up with six thousand dollars quick or he’s dead. Desperate, he turns to “Killer Joe” (McConaughey) when he finds out that his mother’s life insurance policy is worth $50,000. Although Joe usually demands cash up front, he finds himself willing to bend the rules in exchange for Chris’ attractive younger sister, Dottie (Temple), who will serve as sexual collateral until the money comes in… if it ever does.
