New poster round-up: Side Effects, Snitch and The Great Gatsby

JoBloJoBlo

This poster collection brings you a bit of everything really, ranging from final posters to first posters, domestic to international, good to bad, thriller to comedy, and first-time imagery to recycled imagery.

The movies they advertise are all set to hit within the first six months of next year, so it’s going to be up to you to decide whether you want to see them in relatively short order.  And with that being said, what would be your ranking of anticipation for these four entries into the canon of 2013?

First up is the final poster for what is being billed as Steven Soderbergh’s final theatrical release, which would be SIDE EFFECTS starring Rooney Mara, Jude Law, Channing Tatum, and Catherine Zeta-Jones and written by Scott Z. Burns (CONTAGION).  While far from as striking as the first promotional art, the red cross is certainly enough to capture my attention – which in turn begs the question: how much does anyone who doesn’t follow film news websites like this one know about SIDE EFFECTS or its probably quality considering the creative team involved?

SIDE EFFECTS arrives February 8th.

Next up is SNITCH, Dwayne Johnson‘s latest foray into the smaller side of action after 2010’s FASTER

Supposedly inspired by true events, the trailer promises Johnson the chance to flex his action and acting muscles (almost) equally – but will it succeed? And will audiences reward it?

I hope it does and I hope they will, but somehow I find myself doubting that either will come to fruition when the movie releases on February 22nd.

And insofar as this art for THE GREAT GATSBY goes, technically you’ve seen it all before in the form of the individual character posters released last week.

But this UK quad poster collects them all together sans quotations, creating one giant banner to contain these larger-than-life characters.  Either you’re interested in THE GREAT GATSBY or you’re not, and I think the advertising material has easily established by now who is and who is not.

THE GREAT GATSBY arrives, at least domestically, on May 10th.
