With ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD now behind us, Quentin Tarantino has just one feature-film left in his future, but we may have a bit of a wait ahead of us as Tarantino has plans to tackle a variety of other projects before he even begins developing that final movie. While speaking at a BAFTA event (via Variety), the director explained that he enjoyed a particularly fruitful writing period in the time between scripting ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD and shooting it.

"Normally when I finish a script we pretty much go right into production on it. When I finished ‘Hollywood,’ I wasn’t ready to start. Part of the reason I wasn’t ready to start it was because I was just really plugged into writing at that point," Tarantino said. "So I finished ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,’ finished that script, put it aside, and then I wrote a play. And then I wrote a five-episode TV series. And right now I’m writing a book and I’m hoping that I’ll be finished in three months. So the idea will be hopefully by March maybe I’ll be finished with the book – and then, theoretically, maybe I’ll do the play, and then theoretically I’ll do the TV show, and then by that point I’ll be thinking maybe what I’ll do for the 10th movie." Tarantino didn't elaborate on any of those projects, but he has previously spoken of writing multiple episodes of Bounty Law, the fictional TV series which Leonardo DiCaprio's character in ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD starred in. There's no guarantee that it will happen, but he certainly does seem interested in what's being done in the medium now.

The way people are doing [television] now, it’s an idea that’s been in my head since the ’90s…and especially something that would all be written by me and all directed by me. I don’t know if I really want to spend nine months doing something like that, though. But I do have an idea for a series, but it wouldn’t be quite that epic a thing.

As for that tenth and potentially final feature-film, Quentin Tarantino said, "There will be a 10th one, yes. I have no idea what it’s going to be. It’s going to be a little bit down the line." There are several possibilities, as Tarantino has spoken about taking on the R-rated Star Trek project, KILL BILL VOl. 3, and has even expressed interest in doing a horror movie. Whatever his final movie ends up being, the director has teased that it will likely be more "epilogue-y" than anything he's done before. "If you think about the idea of all the movies telling one story, and each film is like a train boxcar, connected to each other, this one would sort of be the big show-stopping climax of it all," Tarantino said. "And I could imagine that the 10th one would be a little more epilogue-y."

ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD will hit Digital on November 25th, and land on DVD/Blu-ray/4K Ultra HD on December 10, 2019.
