Satan’s Slaves 2: Communion is Indonesia’s first IMAX movie

Five years ago, director Joko Anwar made an Indonesian horror movie called Satan’s Slaves, which was a remake of a 1982 Indonesian horror movie that had simply been called Satan’s Slave. Now Anwar has made a sequel, Satan’s Slaves 2: Communion, and took to social media to announce that this will be the first film from Indonesia to be released in the large screen IMAX format! Satan’s Slaves 2: Communion will be showing on nine IMAX screens in the country when it’s released on August 4th.

Anwar said (with thanks to Variety for the translation):

Confirmed. Bigger. More thunderous! More fun! Satan’s Slaves: Communion is the first Indonesian film (and the first local film in Southeast Asia) with IMAX technology and will be available in all IMAX cinemas throughout Indonesia!”

Starring Tara Basro, Satan’s Slaves told the story of

a woman and her family, who are terrorized in their house and learn that the woman’s dead mother was involved in the occult.

Basro reprises her role in Satan’s Slaves 2: Communion, where she is

trying to break the curse on the house.

Basro is joined in the cast by Endy Arfian, Nasar Annuz, Bront Palarae, Ratu Felisha, Jourdy Pranata, Egy Fedly, Muzakki Ramdhan, Fatih Unru, M. Iqbal Sulaiman, Ayu Laksmi, M. Adhiyat, Nafiza Fatia Rani, Kiki Narendra, Fachry Albar, and Asmara Abigail.

I still haven’t seen Satan’s Slave or Satan’s Slaves, and definitely won’t be in Indonesia any time soon, so I won’t be able to catch the IMAX release of Satan’s Slaves 2: Communion… but it is cool to hear that the movie is getting such a release.

Are you a fan of Satan’s Slaves, and are you looking forward to Satan’s Slaves 2: Communion? Will you be in Indonesia to see the IMAX release? Let us know what you think of this one by leaving a comment below.
