Star Wars: Battlefront II reveals new cinematic trailer

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

I remember playing STAR WARS: BATTLEFRONT on PS2 and just spending all my time murdering Ewoks or crashing ships (not on purpose, I just wasn't very good). I also remember playing with my brother on the same team, which was kind of rare in the post-CONTRA days of gaming. I always appreciate games where you can work together, as I'm not much of a competitive person (and also my brother is way better at games than I am).

Well, anyway BATTLEFRONT II for the new generation of consoles is coming out later this year, and sounds pretty fuckin' awesome. There's also been some new details dropped at the STAR WARS Celebration:

Battlefront 2's campaign will focus on a character named Iden Versio who leads an elite unit of Empire soldiers named the Inferno Squad. The campaign takes place shortly after the events of Return of the Jedi and focuses on how the remaining stormtroopers and Empire leaders dealt with the fallout of the Death Star II's destruction.

So, like the classic LucasArts game TIE FIGHTER, we'll be seeing this shit from the Empire's point-of-view. Cue Rolling Stone's "Sympathy for the Devil".

Also here's the trailer:

Holy shit, all gameplay footage! Badass! It will also span all eras, where you even get to play as Kylo Ren (which should be exciting for some people). I just hope they ditch the token system for getting ships and let you just hop in them like previous versions (though the fact that these new BATTLEFRONT's are more focused on online play might mitigate that). Still, would be nice.

So any fun BATTLEFRONT stories you'd like to share? If so, sound off below!

Anyway, STAR WARS: BATTLEFRONT II will fly onto consoles November 11th, 2017. May the Force be with you, newb (is that still the vernacular?)!
