The live-action Spideys join forces in fan trailer for Into the Multiverse

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

With SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE opening up countless universes full of Spider-folks and the upcoming SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME seemingly introducing the Multiverse to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the possibility has been sparked for all of the live-action Spider-Men (Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland) to share the big-screen for the first time. The chances of this actually happening are infinitesimal, but that hasn't stopped the good folks at Nerdist from putting together a fantastic fan-trailer for SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE MULTIVERSE which effectively brings Maguire, Garfield, and Holland's versions of Spider-Man into the same universe.

Although the idea doesn't stand much of a chance of happening in the realm of live-action, there's always the possibility that it could come to life in a sequel to the animated SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE. In fact, co-director/co-writer Rodney Rothman has said that early drafts of the first film included a scene with all the live-action Spider-Men which wound up being scrapped due to anxiety about confusing audiences. Shame.

Here's the synopsis for SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE MULTIVERSE:

The power of the Infinity Gauntlet has torn a hole into the fabric of reality and as a result… a door to the Multiverse has opened and Spider-Man finds himself at the epicenter! But which Spider-Man? In an ode to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, this new Nerdist Remix will take all of the live-action versions of Spider-Man across different eras and put them all in the same dimension working towards the same goal… To be your friendly neighborhood, web slinging badass. Will these webheads be able to join forces or will they just spend the entire time trying to out quip each other? Swing into the Multiverse to find out!

Our next real Spidey flick, SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME, will hit theaters on July 2, 2019.
