Why do I love movies? Well, that is a loaded question. How much time do you have? I could go into a long-winded diatribe about the art of film-making or the magic of the movies, but all of that has been said countless times before. Not every movie is a masterpiece, but every film has touched me in one way or another. Every other week, we will look at a handful of reasons why movies are so damn great..

CHAPTER XIII

I love movies…

Because of the opening crawl to THE DARK CRYSTAL

Because of the Necronomicon from THE EVIL DEAD

Because of Michael McKean in CLUE

Because of Johnny Five in the chase scene from SHORT CIRCUIT 2

Because of the full version of John Woo‘s RED CLIFF

Because of Michael Clarke Duncan in THE GREEN MILE

Because of Michael Clarke Duncan in THE SLAMMIN’ SALMON

Because of Jean-Claude Van Damme playing goalie in SUDDEN DEATH

Because of the poo sniffing scene in THE LAST EMPEROR

Because of Richard E. Grant in WITHNAIL AND I

Because the movie HACHI: A DOG’S TALE made me cry like a baby

Because so did MARLEY & ME

Because the movie SPACE CAMP both terrified me and made me want to be an astronaut even more

Because of Alyssa Milano in DOUBLE DRAGON

Because of Tommy Lee Jones in COBB

Because of the dinner announcement in HAUNTED HONEYMOON

Because of the ridiculousness that is Gary Oldman in TIPTOES

Because of Robert Patrick in anything

Because of Geena Davis in TRANSYLVANIA 6-5000

Because I know Peter Jackson will make another film as amazing as HEAVENLY CREATURES
