Behind the Box

Last Updated on July 27, 2021

A couple days ago, Eric showed you all the picture of the box from THE BOX.

Well today there’s some more news coming in for Richard Kelly’s horror/thriller. /Film are reporting on some behind the scenes footage from the flick… get this… from NASA! No joke.

Apparently the scene was filmed in one of NASA’s de-commissioned wind tunnels. It can be considered a spoiler, so procede with caution. If you want to check out the footage, head on over here.

The official synopsis for THE BOX reads:

Based on the short story by Richard Matheson, “The Box” stars Cameron Diaz as Norma Lewis and James Marsden as Arthur Lewis, a suburban couple with a young child who receive a simple wooden box as a gift, which bears fatal and irrevocable consequences. A mysterious stranger, played by Frank Langella, delivers the message that the box promises to bestow upon its owner $1 million with the press of a button. But, pressing this button will simultaneously cause the death of another human being somewhere in the world…someone they don’t know. With just 24 hours to have the box in their possession, Norma and Arthur find themselves in the crosshairs of a startling moral dilemma and must face the true nature of their humanity.

The flick is directed by Richard Kelly, who also wrote the screenplay based off Matheson’s short story. As most are aware of I’m sure, Matheson also wrote I AM LEGEND, which I hear was recently made into a motion picture. Kelly had the following to say regarding NASA’s wind tunnel:

“In the footage you will see brief glimpses of some of the (very large) sets constructed for the film in the large-scale wind tunnel, which has never been used in a motion-picture… until now!”

As stated in the synopsis, the film stars Cameron Diaz (below), James Marsden, and Frank Langella.
