Mysterious viral campaign for Godzilla; trailer premiere tomorrow!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

If you're anything like us, you're excited that Gareth Edwards' GODZILLA will be stomping into theaters on May 16, 2014, and you're probably clamoring for any Big G-related goodness you can find. We gotcha covered as we have a few mysterious images as well as a strange viral video that definitely has something to do with GODZILLA.

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have begun a new viral campaign that starts at Muto Research, a military website with highly classified information that you can check out HERE. Hiding within the site are some stills and a video (which you can peep below), neither of which give a lotta info, but are still pretty damn cool. Check out the vid now:

The cats over at TotalFilm were given this next image which shows Turkmenistan's infamous burning 'Door to Hell', which was first ignited by a Soviet gas company in 1971. They claimed the dangerous gases would burn off in a few days — yet miraculously, it has been burning ever since.

Normally accessible to the public, the image is associated with the notes that "this remote destination was strangely placed on government lockdown, as the secretive group identified as M.U.T.O. established a heavily-guarded "restricted access area" for undisclosed purposes. This snapshot from a tourist shows emergency vehicles, armed troops and research crews being choppered to the scene."

After decades of this mysterious inferno blazing, why is M.U.T.O. getting involved now?

And below you will find two other images from the M.U.T.O. site, both of which seem to suggest that M.U.T.O. will play a big part of the film.

Even better, we've also been informed that this Tuesday, December 10th, Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures will premiere the GODZILLA trailer at 10am Pacific/1pm Eastern.  Naturally, you'll be able to see it right here at AITH as soon as it drops, so stay tuned!
