Peli lands in Area 51

Last Updated on July 26, 2021

I’m not sure if it’s officially official, but word has it that director Oren Peli’s PARANORMAL ACTIVITY had a successful midnight screening last night, and people are talking: this shite is scary, yo! Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t, maybe it’s the delirium of staying up late watching a free movie talking. Either way, people are talking, which means the little movie that could will likely be a huge success. Good shit!

According to The L.A. Times, things are already looking up for Peli, who has just signed on to direct AREA 51, a flick shot in the same style of filmmaking, using “found footage” [to look at] the secret location, that supposedly houses a UFO, as a group of folks try to break in.

Think the success of QUARANTINE and REC, mixed with PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, and add in some CLOVERFIELD to the mix, and it sounds like what we may have with AREA 51. I’m sure the budget will be more than $11K, so it’ll be nice to see what Peli will be able to do here. If it’s more of the same, then you know what–that ain’t such a bad thing! As long as it’s not any worse…

Should be interesting to see who well ACTIVITY did over the weekend in the few select theaters it’s rocking right now, but even a mild take will likely be profitable. To check out the whole article, click HERE, and keep it here for all AREA 51 updates as we hear ’em!
