Producer talks Gears

One movie I’m looking forward to is Len Wiseman’s upcoming adaptation of popular X-Box 360 game GEARS OF WAR. Now I’m a big fan of the games, as I’m sure are most of you. HALO eat your heart out, I’d pick GEARS OF WAR any day of the week! So you can bet I’m stoked a GEARS OF WAR movie is moving right along.

Proof of that is this small interview Making Of recently got with producer Wyck Godfrey. In the 50 second clip Godfrey let’s loose on a major plot detail that a lot of you might not have seen coming: They’re planning on having the film take place during the first 48 hours of the Locust’s emergence. Damn… that’s genius! If you’re a fan of the game then you should know the plot follows Delta Squad as they fight to save the human inhabitants of the fictional planet Sera from a relentless subterranean enemy known as the Locust Horde. Now to have the movie center on the mayhem and carnage of what happens right at the start of the war is very intriguing, no? And it would actually make a lot of sense if the filmmakers are planning a GEARS OF WAR trilogy, as previously reported.

I’m sure lot’s of you out there have an opinion on the matter so start shooting some bullets below! This one is definitely prime for some discussion. After we sling opinions back and forth on that plot how about we decide who should play ‘Marcus Fenix’ and ‘Dominic Santiago?’ Now there’s some fun casting. Off the top of my head I’m feeling a DOOM reunion of Karl Urban and Duane ‘The Rock’ Johnson… Though there’s so many possibilities. Hopefully GEARS OF WAR will kick into high gear soon so be sure to keep it here for updates as we hear them.
