Receive horror flick Chain Letter this August on DVD

In today’s day and age of remakes, torture porn and 3D gimmicks it’s nice to see a good old fashioned 90s-esque slasher heading our way. Well at least it seems like that’s what we’re getting with Deon Taylor’s CHAIN LETTER.

We’ve actually been keeping you in the loop with this one for a while now, with the last update coming back in February. That news had CHAIN LETTER scoring a limited theatrical release starting May 21st. Well that’s all fine and dandy but when we will see this shite on DVD?! Worry not ladies and gentlemen, I’ve got the answer!

It seems the official word is that CHAIN LETTER will be hitting DVD August 6th. Damn, for a flick that’s been bouncing around for quite a while that’s still a pretty long wait, right? Practically the entire Summer? Ouch. Well here’s hoping you weren’t looking forward to CHAIN LETTER too much!

Six friends receive a mysterious chain letter via text messaging and in their email accounts from a maniac who’s hunting down teenagers who fail to forward his online chain letter. Who knew they should take the threats in the chain letter seriously? Or that chain letters using the teens’ favorite technologies to track them can kill? This maniacal game pits friend against friend as they race to beat rules that seem impossible to escape. Break the chain, lose a life. Do you pass it on? Does friendship mean anything?

CHAIN LETTER sports an interesting cast that includes Nikki Reed (below), Noah Segan, Keith David, Brad Dourif, and Betsy Russell. You can’t really go wrong with Keith David and Brad Dourif now can you? Pretty sure that means this one is worth watching just for those names alone! What says you guys?
