Wrong Turn remake officially coming soon

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

It was only a matter of time.

If you thought the trend of horror remakes was over, get ready to be proven wrong as not only does there seem to be a remake of 1992's CANDYMAN headed our way via Jordan Peele but now it looks like even the year 2003 isn't safe. Yes, today we have confirmation via Deadline that the backwoods cannibal hit series WRONG TURN is getting itself a remake. True story. Constantin Film will be remaking the hit horror flick with franchise-creator Alan McElroy returning to pen the script, and Mike P. Nelson (THE DOMESTICS) directing.

Producer Robert Kulzer said:

Alan’s reinterpretation of his own work and Mike’s vision are a frightening reflection of our world today: one person’s American dream is another’s worst nightmare.

The updated version is described as "a timely and topical meditation on society and its issues." More specifically, this new film will follow:

A cross-country hiking expedition puts a group of friends in the land of an inclusive society, where they soon discover they are under a different rule of law, and may not be the victims they thought they were.

The WRONG TURN franchise kicked off in 2003 and spawned five films. The original movie starred Eliza Dushku, Jeremy Sisto, and Emmanuelle Chriqui and centered on:

Friends Jessie (Eliza Dushku) and Carly (Emmanuelle Chriqui) are traveling with pals Scott (Jeremy Sisto), Evan (Kevin Zegers) and Francine (Lindy Booth) when they have car trouble in West Virginia. Moments later, motorist Chris (Desmond Harrington) crashes into their disabled vehicle. Stranded, the friends discover that they're being stalked by a horde of backwoods cannibals. The woodsmen are hungry and fierce, and they'll be eating well unless Jessie and pals can outsmart them.

Constantin Film’s Robert Kulzer will produce this remake and Martin Moszkowicz will executive produce. Are you excited for a reboot of WRONG TURN? Make sure to hit us up and let us know! Until then, you can snag a copy of the original film on Blu-ray HERE.
