When thinking about WTF casts, the recent De Niro, Trejo, Lohan, Alba, Seagal combo in MACHETE comes to mind, but I hadn't really realized how strange the FRIGHT NIGHT remake cast was either.

There's Colin Farrell, Anton Yelchin, Imogen Poots, Chris Mintz-Plasse and David Tennant, who is the newly flamboyant Peter Vincent character you can see below in this first image from our boys at ArrowInTheHead.

Apparently the character has been remade as a Vegas stage performer in the style of Criss Angel, but mercifully, there are no diamond studded handcuff necklaces to be found. They've clearly changed things around quite a bit from the original, as you may recall THIS is what Peter Vincent used to look like. How we got here from there, I have no idea.

Extra Tidbit: This looks very SORCERER'S APPRENTICE at the moment. And we all know how well that turned out.

I was kinda on the fence with the Fright Night remake since it's one of my favorite movies but as a Doctor Who fan, I can't help but get a bit siked for this one.

I'm hoping
That this poster is specific to the Peter Vincent stage character. Hence the magic, the stylised font for the name and V logo behind him. This is all part of the mystical Peter Vincent's look and act and so they used it on his character poster.

Hopefully in the movie he will appear this way on stage, but actually be a bit of a wuss who knows next to nothing about magic or the dark arts.

Hopefully the character posters for the next guys won't include crackling mystical energies and such.

Though I must say this film does NOT need character posters and I'm getting pretty fucking sick of them. Unless it's an ensemble cast like The Expendables or perhaps LOTR, then stick to one sheets. Not every actor needs his own poster for crying out loud.

My only reason for seeing this is....
David Tennant, but I do hope he sticks to a English or Scotish accent because his american accent is poor. I hope he gets more roles from this.

It could be cool...
I'm one of those Americans who've only seen Tennant as The Doctor and as the bad guy from Harry Potter 4, however, I think his acting is spot on, and as long as he does a little research on the part he's playing, hopefully Mr. Tennant can bring a little bit of the spirit of Peter Vincent: Vampire Hunter to this reimagined role. I have faith.

Remakes are unoriginal no matter how you revamp the characters, still, I am looking forward to the new actors versions of these characters especially David Tennant. Most Americans know him for The Doctor, but he has been around for awhile with some amazing performances and parts in his resume. I am excited to see what he does with this character.

I'm never going to watch this but I will say if they REALLY want to remake the oringal, they better have him all smooth and confident on the stage and a quivering loser in real life.

I don't know if it'll be good, but at least it's different. There is no Vincent Price or Cushing comparison for modern time, and that had bothered me a little as in the '80s it was a little more obvious introducing such a character. While Criss Angel is a new media sensation, I don't know it he does any "supernatural" stuff, per se. Certainly his get-up is a bit suggestive of that. At the very...

At the very least it'll be interesting to watch Hollywood make fun of him, and they got a decent fellow to do it, too.

Not sure about the final result, but I am surprisingly intrigued by this project.

No movie did this gag better than Lord of Illusions and that was 15 years ago, before Chris Angel stole and glammed up David Copperfield's act.

The "Peter Cushing + Vincent Price" as a washed local late night TV host was one of the best parts of the original. The magician update could work, but I don't like that it's a young guy playing the part.

I watched the original last night and its amazing for a film that cost only 15 million that it still holds up incredibly well even today. I fully understand their need to make this look more modern as I imagine that a late night horror show would definitely have a darker look for its host than the 80's did. Plus, I'd check out anything with Tennant in it. Plus, I can totally see them having...

Isn't he playing a friggin' Vegas musician now? I think the late night horror show host part has been scrapped.

Hey, the original peter vincent (Roddy McDowell) was obviously a closet homosexual, so why not make PV 2.0 metersexual?

well he does look pretty much like Criss Angel which is exactly what they were going for, i think it works a little better for a modern setting. there arent exactly many places that still show late night creature features with an excentric host anymore. i really hope the bit about him taking off the wig the HedwigX mentioned is true, it would also be nice if he used his real accent not a bad...

now i've never seen the original. but the concept seems a bit interesting to me. and up until they casted david tennant i wasn't so sure about the cast.

i loved tennant in doctor who and though these are two completely different things, i have faith that this movie won't do as badly as we may think.

You should really see the original and how great Roddy McDowall was as Peter Vincent.

If it were anybody but Tennant in that photo I'd be certain this was going to be complete shit. Instead, I'm only SOMEWHAT certain, so it gets a neutral.

Speculation
Someone suggested elsewhere that there may be a scene somewhere in the film where he just takes the hair off, like a wig he wears when he's performing. Although I think Tennant is great, disheartened by how they more or less went with the same design choices as The Sorcerer's Apprentice had with Toby Kebbell.
